This Saturday we are having a free family fun night at the Promised Land starting at 5:30pm. We will serve free hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, and bottles of water. We will also be making movie popcorn and cotton candy. We have crafts for kids to make and games for kids to play. Around 7:30pm we will play a double feature of family friendly movies (UP and SOUL) on a 20 foot screen that will be connected to both a sound system for outside listening and in vehicles on 95.7FM. This is our first attempt to reach families and we have tried to get the word out. We are not sure how well the turnout will but those that come will have fun. We will be inviting people to join us in worship and come to Tom's Creek Church. Even if we don't get a huge turnout it is us trying to reach people and invite them to be part of the Body of Christ. God is calling us into reaching families and we are listening.
This Sunday after the 10:30am service we will be having a meeting for those that want to help with Children's Church that will be offered during our 10:30am service. This is one of many different initiatives we are undertaking to make Tom's Creek more family friendly and more inviting to families. We still could use help in the One Room School House with Trudy and the nursery too!
The new bulletin format has been received very positively, especially by those that are able to get a paper copy. We can not always announce all the things that are going on in the life of the church. We put a lot of time into the bulletins and the website so that you can know what is going on in the life of the church. So please read the bulletin and don't skip stuff because often people are missing out on great opportunities (like the Prayer Partner get together)! Remember on September 19th we are having a Round-Up Sunday and trying to get people to join us in worship. Since it is a good old fashioned round up we are having fun by encouraging people to where cowboy attire (like cowboy boots, bandanas, and hats). We even have bandanas and cowboy hats for people to take this Sunday to wear on the 19th!! You of course can invite people to join us online too!!
We are not passing offering plates so the wooden boxes are available to put your offering in. Of course you can also give online, use text to give (844-406-0358), or mail in the offering to church. In addition, we will be collecting prayers in the prayer box on the table in the parlor. Also, if you have announcement that you need to be shared please write them down and give them to me before the service. This will be an ongoing practice for prayers and announcements to help ensure that they are heard and understood by all (especially those worshipping with us virtually).
If people are not able to join us in the sanctuary for worship we continue to livestream at 8am (it will be available to view after too) services via Facebook ,(https://www.facebook.com/tomscreekumc) or YouTube(https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX6E7eCwH2ZGYspkSCF0CGw). If you join and follow our Facebook page or subscribe to our YouTube channel, they will let you know when we are live. You can always watch any videos we post later because we leave them up. Also Sunday afternoon a shortened version is available on our website and on YouTube.
